Gilbert and Sullivan Charity Concerts - 2012 to 2014

In early 2012 I was contacted by an acquaintance from the local theatre community to see if I would like to be involved in a one performance concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado". The concert was to be a fund raiser for the Uniting Church Mission. She offered me the role of The Mikado, but there was a role in the show that I really wanted to play and that was Pooh-Bah. After negotiations, the role was mine. We were able to have our musical scores and libretto on stage with us and there was minimal costuming and make-up. Also, there were only about six to eight rehearsal sessions. In all you might say a fairly lay back show. But this did not stop the cast from putting on a high quality show.

It was all a great success and encouraged her to put on another performance in 2013. This time it was a concert performance of "The Pirates of Penzance". I played the role of the Sergeant of Police. A role that I have played before in a full production of the show in 1994 with the CEF Players in ,Victoria.
